Trauma Rescue Aid (TRAID) provided emergency medical support to 41 Sudanese refugees and survivors living with chronic illnesses and in healthcare needs. This intervention was made possible through a donation of USD 662 via a GoFundMe campaign, generously supported by Jennie and Amber.

Following the US funding cuts for refugees in 2025, many displaced families were left struggling to access medicines and basic medical care. women, young mothers, and elderly men, in particular, faced the combined burden of untreated chronic illnesses and food insecurity.

TRAID stepped in to provide life-saving support through the purchase and distribution of essential medications, ensuring continuity of care during this critical period.

The goal of this intervention was to:

Address the intersection of trauma, displacement, and health needs

Provide relief to refugees living with chronic illnesses

Prevent health deterioration due to lack of medicines

Offer psychosocial support by reducing the stress of untreated illnesses

Reduce the immediate health risks caused by untreated conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, asthma, thyroid disorders, and other chronic illnesses.

The intervention prioritized refugee women, young mothers, and elderly men, who face the highest risks from untreated illnesses and food insecurity.
