Psychosocial Support (PSS)

Conflict, displacement, and violence leave more than physical wounds. They affect how people think, feel, and relate to others. For many, the weight of loss, fear, and uncertainty can be overwhelming… and it doesn’t just go away on its own.
Our Psychosocial Support (PSS) program provides safe, confidential, and compassionate care to individuals and families affected by trauma. We create spaces where people feel heard, respected, and supported to begin healing at their own pace.
At the heart of our work is a simple belief: with the right support, people can rebuild a sense of stability, dignity, and hope.

Our Approach

We take a survivor-centered and community-based approach to psychosocial support. That means we listen first. We respect each person’s experience without judgment, and we support them in ways that feel safe and appropriate for them.

Confidentiality and Trust

We create safe spaces where survivors can talk freely and share their stories without fear or judgment. Every story is treated with care, respect, and confidentiality.

Inclusion

Not everyone is affected in the same way. Women and children are often the most vulnerable to violence, exploitation, and emotional distress. We make a deliberate effort to reach them and create spaces where they feel safe, valued, and able to take part freely.

Cultural Sensitivity

Healing does not happen in isolation from culture or community. We respect local values, beliefs, and ways of coping. Instead of imposing solutions, we adapt our support to fit the context, working alongside communities in ways that feel familiar and acceptable

Do No Harm Principles

Support should never add to someone’s pain. We are careful in how we listen, how we ask questions, and how we respond. Our work is guided by the principle of “do no harm,” ensuring that every interaction protects dignity, promotes safety, and avoids retraumatization.

Our Activities

We provide a range of psychosocial support services to respond to different needs. Some people prefer to speak privately, others find comfort in groups. We try to meet each person where they are and support them in a way that feels safe and helpful.

Individual Counselling

We conduct one-on-one sessions with survivors at the center, and also through home visits for those who may not feel comfortable coming in or speaking in group settings. We create a safe space where they can talk freely, and we listen with care and respect.

Group Support Sessions

We facilitate group discussions where participants can share their experiences, support one another, and rebuild a sense of connection. It helps people feel less alone in what they are going through.

Outreach and Awareness

We engage with communities to raise awareness about mental health, reduce stigma, and encourage positive ways of coping. These conversations help people better understand and support each other.

Women and Girls Support Programs

We create safe spaces and targeted sessions for women and girls, focusing on gender-based violence, protection concerns, and emotional well-being. These spaces are built on trust, safety, and support.
