Trauma Rescue Aid (TRAID)

Trauma Rescue Aid (TRAID) is a refugee-led grassroots nonprofit organisation founded in April 2023 in response to the humanitarian consequences of the conflict in Sudan.

Our Story

TRAID was established after the outbreak of war in Sudan in April 2023, when millions of people were forced to flee their homes and seek safety within Sudan and in neighbouring countries.
Behind these numbers are individuals and families who have lost loved ones, homes, livelihoods, education and a sense of security. Many survivors continue to live with the psychological and social effects of violence, displacement and separation from their families.
TRAID was created to provide practical and compassionate support to people affected by these experiences.
Our approach goes beyond responding to immediate needs. We work alongside survivors and communities to support healing, protection, dignity, resilience and peaceful coexistence.

Vision

To build a community where conflicts are resolved through dialogue, Not violence, and where survivors receive justice and support they deserve.

Mission

To support refugees and displaced communities affected by conflict, with a focus on women and children, through psychosocial support, emergency response, peacebuilding initiatives, and advocacy that promotes healing and justice.

Our Approach

Survivor-Centred

Survivors are treated with dignity and respect. We listen to their needs and experiences and support their right to make informed decisions about the assistance they receive and the information they choose to share.

Community-Led

As a refugee-led grassroots organisation, we believe communities affected by conflict should be active participants in identifying their needs and shaping responses that affect their lives.
