Our History

Trauma Rescue Aid (TRAID) was founded on April 15, 2023, in response to the devastating war in Sudan that tore communities apart. While interning at DNHR, our founder witnessed survivors of sexual violence and torture struggling to cope with life in Kampala. Their stories were documented, but no psychosocial support was available. Many did not speak English, only Arabic, and it was clear they needed more than just their experiences recorded. Today, TRAID works with displaced and marginalized communities across Sudan, providing trauma-informed psychosocial support, counseling, human rights advocacy, gender equality programs, peacebuilding initiatives, and livelihoods training. We also operate in refugee-hosting communities in Seeta, Mukono District, supporting families with counseling, health education, livelihood training, child therapy and advocacy on GBV & Gender equality
